			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So, I did not do well at all.  My first nap ended up being 8 hours long, I spaced my 4 PM nap didn&#8217;t take one, and then was hanging out with friends at 8 PM.  Needless to say, I wasn&#8217;t able to sleep very well on my 12 AM nap, which I ended up taking at 12:30.  Yeah not a very good day.  I think, to improve my chances, if I follow the schedule this night all should go well, and make it easier to nap.  I will also do a little more research because I don&#8217;t remember everything I read.  I will perhaps pick up some tips and record them here.</p>
<p>Needless to say, my body and my mind feel fine, because nothing has changed, I slept a normal 8 hours from 4 AM to 12 AM.</p>
<p>I also forgot to include that I am a musician, playing mostly guitar, and I think extra time would help me to write songs, or review a bit of theory.  So adding to the list of things to do:</p>
<p>-Music</p>
<p>Also, I have chosen to keep my posts short, maybe they will get longer but for now&#8230;short is good.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In an effort to improve myself, and to have more time on my hands, I have to decided to start polyphasic sleep.  I also decided to blog it so my experiences could be a resource to others, and to help record my thoughts. </p>
<p>First, the theory behind polyphasic sleep is that you sleep less, but get more from the sleep.  In the average 8 hours of sleep you have approxiamately 1.5 hours of REM sleep, or the deep sleep in which you dream.  In polyphasic sleep(also known as Uberman, or Davinci&#8217;s sleep), you sleep 20 minutes 6 times a day, every 4 hours.  Once adjusted to the sleep, every 20 minute nap is completely REM sleep, giving you 2 hours a day as opposed to 1.5 most people get, which in theory will increase your IQ.  A little far fetched, but I have become very interested by the prospects.  If you do the math, I will have 22 hours of awake time.  I will need to think of things to do to resist the urge to sleep.</p>
<p>Some of the ways I will fill all of my time:</p>
<p>-Reading (mostly for entertainment, but some educational stuff, also)</p>
<p>-Cleaning (I have been putting off cleaning and organizing my room for a while)</p>
<p>-Ebay(in an effort to make money I am going to sell items on ebay, I will need to research this also)</p>
<p>-The Stock Market(I have already invested money in the stock market, but I can always learn more)</p>
<p>-Learn HTML</p>
<p>-Videogames(as a last resort, they take little effort)</p>
<p>The transition is supposed to be painful, particularly days 4 and 5, and the first 2 weeks are supposed to be bad, so it will take a lot of willpower to follow through.</p>
<p>I woke up at 1:00 pm and have not slept since, it is now 2:52 am, and I plan to make my first nap at 4:00 am and follow every four hours, 8 AM, 12 PM, 4 PM, etc.  Not sure I am starting it off right, but we will see how it turns out.  I will record my thoughts and progress daily at about this time.</p>

<p>I am currently 18 years old, living in the United States, at my parent&#8217;s house.  I am not currently working, and am technically on call from my previous job, working at the parks department for my city.  I have no girlfriend to speak of, but a few prospects.  I have started this blog to write about my journeys of self improvement, mainly to record my polyphasic sleep progress, but also other self improvement ventures.</p>
